UNM proud published a story about one of our past students who talked about how her experience in the Refugee Well-being Project helped shape her career goals and encouraged her to make a difference in the world.“In the beginning, I had no idea what a refugee was... I know now that they’re forced to flee… they don’t just flee because they want to… after working with them, I don’t really consider them refugees because I feel like that term makes people feel sorry for them more, feel sympathetic towards them when—I mean, they’re probably some of the most hardworking people I’ve ever met.”
