David T. Lardier

Biography:

Dr. David T. Lardier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Community Behavioral Health, at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Dr. Lardier conducts research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and other federal agencies, focusing on multi-level prevention-intervention and implementation science research. Alongside Dr. Jessica Goodkind, Dr. Lardier serves as Co-Investigator on the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) grant initiative titled: Multilevel Community-Based Mental Health Intervention to Address Structural Inequities and Adverse Disparate Consequences of COVID-19 Pandemic on Latinx Immigrants and African Refugees. A prolific scholar with over 100 publications, Dr. Lardier is highly regarded within the prevention-intervention science community. In addition to his work as a researcher, Dr. Lardier is a Developmental Psychologist, a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC), and a Designated Clinical Supervisor in New Mexico, with over a decade of clinical experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Dr. Lardier specializes in strengths-based behavioral interventions, brief psychotherapeutic techniques, and motivational interviewing, and has trained providers locally and nationally in these approaches. He currently provides clinical services through the University of New Mexico Athletics Department, the University of New Mexico Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science’s Faculty Clinic and through Indian Health Services,  which is an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
